Kylee's second month

This month has brought about many changes for us! First, Kylee had a very young visitor from Maryland come to see her...Her cousin Olivia, who is only 4 weeks older than her. They spent alot of time together sleeping, pooping and crying! While Kylee was visiting with her cousin, Chris and I were busy moving! Yep- moving! We decided that with Chris' new job and me going back to work, it would be easier if we lived with my parents. So, that is just what we did and it was a good decision for us. My parents are such a blessing and so helpful with Kylee. It is nice to have so much extra help!

I also went back to work in January, after taking 6 weeks off. I wasn't ready to go back to work, but are you ever ready? It was a hard adjustment to make! Kylee still seemed to young for me to leave with a sitter, even if the sitter was my mom! I started back mid-week, which made for a short week, which was a nice way to transiton back to work. Then we had a 3 day weekend and another short week!

Kylee is beginning to settle in to a good routine now, thanks to Babywise and my good friend, Kim! I think I called Kim on a daily basis asking for help and advice. I soon learned, that no baby is the same and you cant expect your baby to be just like a book! Kylee wakes up around 7:30 or 8, eats, plays and takes a morning nap around 10, for about an hour. Then she once again, eats, plays and naps around 1 for an hour or two. She wakes, eats, plays and takes a cat-nap in the early evenings. After dinner, around 8:00, Kylee gets a bath. We rub her down the Johnson's nighttime lotion and give her the last bottle at 8:30. By 9:00, Kylee is usually passed out for the night! Kylee will sleep anywhere from 6-8 hours straight, before getting up for a bottle, then go back to sleep till morning. While this routine is wonderful, it doesnt happen every night! Some nights, she will wake up more than usual, others she will sleep longer than usual! Some days, she doesnt nap as well, and other days she will sleep all day! The worst nights are when she is up three times to eat or refuses to go back to sleep and then best night was when she slept from 10 pm- 6 am! However, she didn't go back to sleep after her 6 am feeding, but thats okay because we got 8 hours of sleep!

At 5 weeks old, we decided to get newborn pictures taken of Kylee. We found a wonderful newborn photographer and she took some great pictures of Kylee asleep! We were very glad we ended up getting these pictures done! They are toooo cute!

Kylee is also beginning to smile and coo! She smiles the most in the mornings! We love seeing her smile and hearing her try to talk to us!

Kylee's second month ended with her 2 month check-up appointment and SHOTS!! Oh my, what a day!! Kylee weighed in at 9 lbs 7 oz and 21 1/2 inches long. This puts her in the 5th percentile for her height and 25th percentile for her weight! She is doing good and the doctor is pleased with her growth. Kylee got three shots, which she cried so hard instantly that she couldnt catch her breath. She did great after we picked her up and was fine the rest of the evening. We came home and I gave her tylenol at 4:30. All of a sudden, at 8 pm Kylee started screaming at the top of her lungs! Her leg was red and swollen from her hip to her knee and she cried for 2 straight hours!!! We tried to give her a bath, called the on call nurse, put cold compresses on her legs, tried to give her a bottle and finally gave her more tylenol at 9:00. She refused the bottle and cried herself to sleep at 10:00. I felt so bad for her and it made me cry! The next day, she was still slightly fussy but by mid afternoon she was finally feeling better. Thank goodness!

Kylee's fourth week

Well Christmas has come and gone and we have had quite a lot of fun! This is the first Christmas, where we did nothing but take pictures! We had the whole family here at my parents house, including Chris' parents. Kylee got held all day long by everyone but me! Oh well, I will have many days and nights to spend holding Miss Kylee!

Kylee's second and third week

We are settling in to life with a newborn. It is definitely life-changing and sleep deprived! We are loving every minute with Kylee! Now that the visitors have finally settled, we are getting ready to enter the holidays!

We had our first scare this week when we were heading to Costco to buy some formula and diapers. On the way there, Kylee let out a loud screeching cry that stopped instantly. It was not a sound we had heard before so Chris and I both looked at each other puzzled. I said to him that it sounded like she spit up, so Chris turned around to check on her. Kylee had spit up, but it was coming out of her nose and her mouth. She couldn't breathe and was beginning to turn blue! Chris immediately jumped into the back seat while I was driving and trying to find somewhere to pull over. Chris yanked Kylee out of her car seat as fast as he could and flipped her upside down, suctioned her nose and mouth and finally she began to gasp for air! Luckily, she was okay! It was the scariest thing I had ever experienced! We couldn't believe that our daughter was choking on her own spit up! It was certainly a moment we will never forget. I am so grateful that Chris was not driving and was able to react so quickly!
This week we also spent some time taking tons of pictures of Kylee for Christmas cards! We spent over an hour stuffing her a stocking, changing her clothes, putting bows in her hair, etc to get the perfect pictures! It was fun but wore her out.....She fell asleep in the middle of picture taking!

Kylee's First Week home!

Kylee's first week came and went pretty fast! It is still hard to believe she is here! We took her to the pediatrician the day after we arrived home. Kylee had not lost any more weight and was doing well so far. She was a pretty good sleeper too! We woke her every 3 hours to eat, even in the night. It was definitely hard to get up every three hours! Especially when there were times we really had to work to keep her awake enough to eat. On top of constant feedings, I was pumping every three hours as well. Kylee didn't latch very well in the hospital and we were not content with her gettting such a minimal amount of colostrum from me, so we began supplementing with formual right away. After 5 days of pumping, I wasn't producing enough, so we decided to just stick to formula. Kylee atleast got my colostrum, which is most important! She is also doing extremely well on formula. We right now are using the expensive, premixed high calorie formula, but she will be off of these soon!

We had tons of visitors coming and going and helping us out. I havent cooked 1 meal since we have been home, because every one else has brought us stuff. It has been soo nice! My parents have been extremely helpful too!

Oh and on a side note, Chris has been doing any amazing job! He is a natural at being a daddy and Kylee already has him wrapped around her finger!! This picture is taken after a LONG night we had where Kylee just didn't want to sleep and was very fussy! We broke all the rules and let her in our bed and let her sleep on her tummy! I know its bad, but we were seriously sleep deprived!

The Arrival of Kylee Marie Weaver- 39 Weeks!

Well, Kylee Marie is here! The birth story of our daughter.......

I went in to the hospital on Monday, November 30th to be induced. I was scheduled to go in at 7:00 p.m, but received a call that all the labor and delivery rooms were full so I would need to wait until one became available. Chris and I decided to enjoy a last dinner at Elizabeth's before going in to have the baby. Finally at 9:30, we were admitted in to the hospital. It was a strange reality realizing that when we left the hospital it would be with our daughter. I was hooked up to all the monitors and given the Cervidil, which is a suppository to help soften your cervix. At this point, I was not dialated at all and Kylee was not in any rush to come into the world. I did, however, already have high blood pressure (which was never a problem during my pregnancy) and my blood platelet count was low. The nurse gave me an Ambien to help me sleep through the night, since all the fun would begin early in the morning. Chris and I watched a movie on the laptop before I passed out from the Ambien.

At 6:30, I woke up to some contractions and decided to get a shower before they started the pitocin. The nurse came in at 7:00 and I had dilated to 3 cm in the night! Yah! The contractions didn't really hurt at this point. They hooked me up to the Pitocin at 7:30 and the Doctor came in at 8:30 to break my water. Instantly, the contractions came every 2 minutes and became VERY PAINFUL!! I was in so much pain at this point! I wanted an epidural but I had to wait to get blood work done since my platelet count was low. Finally, after the longest hour of my life, with one contraction starting right after the pain finished from previous one, the anesthesiologist came in! He was my SAVIOR! The pain from getting the epidural didn't hurt at all compared to my contractions! I was in heaven once the epidural kicked in! At this point, I w as 5 centimeters dilated so we had a while to go. Chris and I took a nap, watched a movie and just relaxed. I couldn't feel my toes and I was okay with that :) The nurse continued to come in periodically to check me and I was slowly hitting 6 cm. Then she told me if I started to feel some pressure to let her know because that means the baby is trying to come. Not five minutes later, I started to feel some pressure but it didnt hurt at all, so I called the nurse. I was 9 centimeters!! AHHHHH! We called Chris' parents to come and they started to prep me for delivery!
At 3:45 I began the pushing process. I thought it was going to be extremely painful but it didnt hurt at all. I think Chris was surprised that I was so calm and not yelling at him, like they do in the movies. The doctor came in around 4:30 and said that the baby's heart rate was dropping during contractions so that I was going to give 1 big push and he was going to suction her out. One last push with a hard pull from the doc and his suction and Kylee was here! It took a few seconds before she cried but they she let out a big cry! She was here! It was soo amazing! Chris was in such shock that the doctor had to tell him " this is the time for you to go take some pictures!" so Chris took some pictures of Kylee getting cleaned up. She weighed in at 5 lbs 14 oz and 19 1/2 inches long! Absolutely beautiful!

After the doctor finished with me and the nurses finished cleaning Kylee up, my parents, Chris' parents, my sister and my grandmother all came to meet Kylee for the first time. After an hour or so, they took Kylee for her first bath. She finally arrived back in our room several hours later. The whole night, Chris and I stayed up and just stared at her! We couldn't believe she was here and she was ours! Finally, at 5 am, we fell asleep!

After checking in on Monday night, we were able to check out Thursday afternoon! We went home to begin adjusting to our new life as a family. Let me just say.... It was the LONGEST car ride home! And now our journey as parents really begins...................

Week 38

Well, this is it! My last post before I am a MOM! It's a scary reality and I can't believe the time is actually here! At last weeks appointment, things went good. My cervix is still completely closed but everything looks good with the baby. Chris tried to call the Doctor and have him induce me even earlier than my schedule induction because he was worried about the baby! They did a Biophysical ultrasound and Kylee passed with an 8 out of 8 so the Doctor has kept my scheduled time. I am so glad I am not going any earlier than that because I would certainly not be ready! I am scheduled to go in November 30th to be given Cervidil to soften my cervix up and then Tuesday morning they will start the Pitocin to start my contractions. The Doctor said Kylee should be here by Tuesday evening or night! My last day of work was Tuesday and then Wednesday we finished up running a few errands. Thursday and Friday, we enjoyed time with the families celebrating Thanksgiving! Today is Sunday and we are getting the house cleaned up and ready to go before we go in tomorrow! I am hoping to have a smooth labor, just like my entire pregnancy but due to the fact that they are inducing, its a week early, I am not dialated at all, etc... there is a higher chance I will have a C-section. We are trying to go natural (of course I will be getting an epidural) but we never know what could happen. I am just hoping that its one or the other and I dont end up laboring all day, to find out in the end I need a C-section! Please keep me and my family in your prayers as we get ready for this big adventure we are about to face tomorrow! I cant wait to meet our daughter and will be sure to post pictures soon!! Thanks for all the love and support throughout the last 9 months!

Week 37- Full Term!!

Hard to believe I am full term and Kylee can now arrive safely in this world! Where did time go? It was so slow getting this far, and then all of a sudden things started moving really fast! I had my ultrasound and Doctor's appointment on Tuesday of this week. The ultrasound showed that Kylee is 5.7 pounds and now in the 18th percentle. Her abdomen is also measuring small. Therefore, the Doctor wants to be overly cautious and induce me by 39 weeks. He is worried about the possibility of growth deficiencies. Holy cow, all of a sudden my three week deadline, has turned in to two!! It was quite a reality check! I am a little concerned but the Doctor has been very reassuring that he just wants to be on the safe side of things. I trust him and know he is going to do whats best for me and for Kylee. I thought this meant my last day of work would be December 1st and I would be induced on December 2nd. However, I have a parent that is a nurse at the hospital and she looked at the schedule for me. It turns out, the doctor has schedule me for induction on November 30th! OH my- that is only a week and half away! Suddenly, I have realized how close that is!!!!!!!! I have so much to do and so litle time! My goal this weekend is to do my Christmas shopping, buy a few baby things we need, and finish reading Babywise! I can't believe I am this close to the end! I have another Doctor's appointment on Wednesday and they are going to do the NST test. I hope everything turns out okay! I am praying that Kylee arrives healthy and ready to be a part of our family! I cant wait to meet our daughter!!
